Your role at a glance

The Manager, Security Platform Engineering is a hands-on people leader within the Global Data Centers Office of Information Security (GDC-OIS) organization, reporting to the Vice President of Cybersecurity Operations. This role is responsible for supporting and protecting mission-critical data center environments in Japan and around the globe while coordinating with regional and global cybersecurity teams.
This role combines day-to-day security engineering, platform operations, threat detection, vulnerability management, incident response, and operational technology (OT) security responsibilities with in-country people management, stakeholder engagement, and operational leadership.
The successful candidate will be technically capable of performing engineering and security operations work directly, while also managing, mentoring, and developing potential Japan-based Cybersecurity, ISMS (Information Security Management System) and/or DPP (Data Privacy and Protection) resources and partnering with local operations, engineering, vendors, and business stakeholders.
The role requires professional business fluency in both Japanese and English to operate effectively with Japan-based stakeholders and the global GDC OIS organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Japan-based Cybersecurity, ISMS and/or DPP engineering and operations personnel, including day-to-day direction, coaching, workload prioritization, performance input, and professional development.
  • Serve as a hands-on cybersecurity technical leader for enterprise IT, Operational Technology (OT), Industrial Control Systems (ICS), and critical infrastructure security in Japan data center environments.

  • Lead and support security monitoring, threat detection, and response activities across on-premises, cloud, enterprise, and operational technology environments.
  • Lead or directly participate in security incident investigations involving endpoint security, malware, identity compromise, network forensics, cloud security events, insider threats, and OT environments, ensuring timely containment, remediation, escalation, and root cause analysis.
  • Coordinate vulnerability assessment and vulnerability management activities for Japan-based enterprise and OT environments, partnering with local and global stakeholders to prioritize remediation based on business risk, exploitability, and threat intelligence.
  • Support cybersecurity initiatives involving ICS, SCADA, Building Management Systems (BMS), Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS), and other critical facility technologies commonly found in data center environments.
  • Partner with data center operations, infrastructure, engineering, physical security, GID (global infrastructure development), vendors, and business stakeholders to establish and maintain security standards, hardening baselines, mitigation strategies, and operational security best practices.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve detection rules, use cases, dashboards, playbooks, automation workflows, standard operating procedures, knowledge articles, and operational metrics.
  • Represent GDC-OIS with Japan-based leadership and operational teams, communicating technical risks, security priorities, remediation requirements, and operational updates in Japanese and English.
  • Lead post-incident reviews, lessons-learned activities, and continuous improvement initiatives designed to strengthen resilience, operational consistency, and security maturity.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity teams across APAC, India, EMEA, and the Americas to ensure consistent global standards while accounting for Japan-specific operational needs and stakeholder expectations.
  • Contribute to global cybersecurity strategy, platform roadmap planning, process improvement, and regional operating model development.

Knowledge Attributes:

  • Professional business fluency in Japanese and English, including written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated people leadership capability, including coaching, prioritization, stakeholder management, and operational accountability.
  • Hands-on technical depth in security engineering, security operations, detection engineering, incident response, vulnerability management, and infrastructure security.
