The Opportunity:
This is an exceptional opportunity for a motivated Manufacturing Engineer to join the newly established Advanced Manufacturing (AM) Program at SRF-JRMC. In this role, you will be at the forefront of innovation, directly supporting the mission of the US Navy in Japan. You will apply your expertise to develop and optimize cutting-edge manufacturing processes for critical naval components. This position offers a unique chance to solve complex production challenges, enhance operational readiness, and contribute significantly to national security in a dynamic, hands-on environment.
Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and implement new manufacturing processes, tooling, and fixtures to support the production of items identified by the AM Program.
• Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and Bills of Materials (BOM).
• Collaborate with design engineers on Design for Manufacturability (DFM) reviews to ensure new products can be produced reliably and economically.
• Ensure all manufacturing processes and documentation comply with relevant industry and military standards.
• Analyze existing workflows to identify bottlenecks and implement Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies to improve efficiency and reduce waste.
• Conduct time studies and capacity analysis to identify process improvement opportunities and determine labor requirements.
• Provide hands-on shop floor support to troubleshoot technical malfunctions, optimize equipment, and resolve production issues as they arise.
• Monitor Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to production, quality, and safety, implementing corrective actions as needed.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must possess an active SECRET security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
• A bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field.
• A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience in a manufacturing or production engineering role with a focus on process improvement and optimization.
• Proven experience with process improvement methodologies such as Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, or Six Sigma.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and automation.
• Proficiency in interpreting blueprints and specifications, with a complete understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Demonstrated ability to design and fabricate workstations, tooling, and fixtures.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills.
Desired:
• Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE) certification.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
• Proficiency with Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or demonstrated experience managing large-scale projects.
• Experience working in an AS9100 or ISO 9001 certified facility.

There are a host of factors that can influence final salary including, but not limited to, geographic location, Federal Government contract labor categories and contract wage rates, relevant prior work experience, specific skills and competencies, education, and certifications. The proposed salary range for this position is:

$90,300-$189,600
