About the Program

This role is designed for candidates who want to build a long-term career in manufacturing and operations engineering.

As a Manufacturing Operations Trainee, you will join our production team and gain hands-on experience across manufacturing, testing, and quality control. Throughout the program, you will receive education support and mentorship, including guidance on what to learn and where to find relevant learning materials, to develop the technical skills required for an Operations Engineer role.

The trainee program runs for 12 months and includes:

  • Learning support tailored to individual skill gaps, including textbooks, online courses, and other learning resources
  • Weekly check-ins and mentorship from experienced engineers
  • Hands-on training in manufacturing and testing operations
  • Progress evaluations at 6 and 12 months

Upon successfully completing the program and passing the final 12-month evaluation, you will be converted to a permanent employee (Seishain) and transition into an Operations Engineer role. This transition will be reflected in both your responsibilities and compensation.

About the Role

You will contribute to manufacturing activities and help ensure that high-quality products are delivered to customers. Working closely with engineers, suppliers, and production partners, you will gain practical experience in manufacturing operations, troubleshooting, and engineering problem-solving.

This role offers exposure to quality control, production processes, hardware troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop operating instructions for production activities.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are maintained in good and safe working conditions.
  • Investigate hardware failures of returned products.
  • Perform testing and inspections on finished products to ensure product quality.
  • Collaborate with design engineers and suppliers to identify and resolve manufacturing issues.
  • Follow the 5S methodology in production and keep improving the existing system.
  • Work with outsourced services, introducing manufacturing processes to them and working out production plans.
  • Manage inventory of raw materials, finished products, and non-conforming products.
  • Support the development of manual and automated tools to increase test or manufacturing efficiency.
  • Support product validation process, perform on-site and off-site tests, and document test results.
  • Lab inventory control and equipment maintenance.
  • Requirements

      Must

    • Degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field
    • Strong interest in manufacturing, hardware, and engineering operations
    • Comfortable working hands-on with electrical, mechanical, and testing equipment
    • Ability to use common electrical measurement tools such as oscilloscopes and multimeters
    • Preferred

    • Experience working in a manufacturing environment
    • Experience in a testing or laboratory environment
    • PCB assembly or testing experience
    • Experience troubleshooting hardware or electromechanical systems
    • Language

    • English work proficiency, or
    • Japanese work proficiency with English reading and writing skills
    • Employment Eligibility

    • Candidates must currently reside in Japan.
    • Candidates who do not currently have full-time work authorization must be eligible to obtain a Certificate of Eligibility (COE) for full-time employment in Japan.
