Job Description:

• We are looking for a Senior Japanese Bilingual POS Software Engineer to work in Tokyo, Japan. The candidate will serve as the technical domain expert for retail POS engagements with Japanese clients — responsible for gathering and clarifying requirements, leading technical discussions in Japanese, coordinating with the offshore development team in India, and contributing to POS application development and platform engineering work. The ideal candidate should have strong hands-on experience in POS software development, deep understanding of retail domain workflows, and the ability to communicate effectively with Japanese client teams and offshore engineering teams

Job Responsibilities:

• Gather, analyze, and document business and technical requirements from Japanese client engineering and product teams.
• Act as the technical bridge between onsite Japanese client teams and the offshore engineering team in India.
• Lead Proof-of-Concept (POC) projects to demonstrate delivery capability in POS and retail technology.
• Design, develop, and customize POS applications including transaction processing, payment integration, and store operations modules.
• Analyze POS platform architectures, integration points, and modernization requirements.
• Support implementation, debugging, and issue resolution at onsite.
• Participate in client meetings, technical discussions, status updates, and demos.
• Support business development and pre-sales activities with technical input.
• Mentor offshore teams on POS domain concepts and retail terminology.

Job Qualification:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in POS software development, implementation, or domain consulting in the retail industry.
• Strong understanding of POS workflows and retail operations.
• Proficiency in Java (Java SE 8+) for POS platform and application development.
• Familiarity with C/C++ for POS terminal and embedded software is an added advantage.
• Japanese language proficiency of N2 or above.
• Working-level English proficiency for coordination with offshore teams.
• Experience in customer-facing requirement gathering and technical discussions.
• Strong debugging, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with POS peripheral integration standards such as OPOS and JavaPOS.
• Experience with enterprise POS platforms such as IBM 4690 OS, ACE, or equivalent systems.
• Knowledge of cloud-native POS architectures, microservices, and RESTful APIs.
• Experience with retail payment protocols and loyalty integrations.
• Exposure to POS migration or platform unification projects.
• Experience working in onsite-offshore delivery models with Japanese clients.
• Experience in technical documentation and knowledge transfer.
• Exposure to Agile or Scrum methodologies

Language Proficiency: Business Level Japanese(JLPT N2) and Business Level English.
