Job Description Qualifications:

Boeing Global Services (BGS) Government Services (GS) organization is seeking an in-country Senior Program Management Liaison for the Japan Direct Commercial Sales (DCS) Sustainment programs for Boeing defense aircraft platforms. This role will be responsible for the capture and/or execution of these sustainment efforts.

The individual will interact with a wide variety of organizations, functions and business units such as international government and industry representatives, especially on Japan Air Self-Defense (JASDF) program with potential expansion to cover other Japan Ministry of Defense (JMOD) services as Senior Program Management Liaison. This individual is expected to work closely with program teams located in the USA, as well as with teams from Boeing’s Japanese subsidiary Boeing Japan KK.

This position is based in Tokyo, Japan and will be hired on a permanent basis, subject to business conditions and individual performance. Some travel will be required to the U.S. and possibly to other parts of Asia in support of relevant BGS sustainment business.

Position Responsibilities:

Daily responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Maintain and enhance broad customer networks that proactively identify business growth opportunities and promote the value of Boeing solutions.
  • Leads cross-functional teams both in the US and Japan in all required activities to acquire and manage contracts.
  • Closely work with US counterparts on common Boeing platforms to develop and execute integrated sustainment solutions.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, and partners.
  • Develops, recognizes, and motivates sustainment team members.
  • Travel both in domestic and overseas in accordance with business needs.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Ten (10) years of more relevant experience in project management skills, tools and process with the Japanese government and industry.
  • Basic understanding of Japan Ministry of Defense operational, sustainment and contracting processes.
  • Japanese and/or US citizenship is required.
  • Fluent in Japanese and English with the ability to review and translate technical information in both written and verbal forms.
  • Experience leading cross functional projects and interfacing with customers, cultivating outcome-oriented business relationships.
  • Experience working with and/or managing contractors, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Experience creating presentations/briefings for Senior Leadership.
  • Effective communication & presentation skills, sharp business acumen, and the ability to work independently and adapt to ambiguity.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred.
  • Experience working with the Japan Ministry of Defense (JMOD).
  • Experience working with the US Air Force and US Foreign Military Sales process
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of military aircraft sustainment.
  • Experience using Earned Value Management or similar cost and schedule accounting means.
