From managing international transportation to ensuring trade compliance, this role helps keep critical healthcare products moving efficiently across borders.

As the Supervisor, International Transportation & Global Trade Management, you will work closely with teams across Japan and globally to support the reliable movement of products, drive operational improvements, and help maintain a resilient supply chain in a complex healthcare environment.

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, this role plays a critical part in ensuring the uninterrupted supply and timely delivery of BD and Medicon products to customers across Japan.

You will lead day-to-day import and export operations while partnering with Demand Planning, Warehousing, Logistics providers, and regional stakeholders to drive operational efficiency, transportation optimisation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

This is a highly collaborative role with visibility across multiple functions and international teams, offering the opportunity to influence key decisions that support BD's purpose of advancing healthcare outcomes.

Your Day-to-Day

  • Lead and oversee import and export operations for BD and Medicon products, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and service excellence.
  • Drive transportation and logistics performance by analysing freight structures and identifying opportunities for cost optimisation.
  • Partner closely with Demand Planning, Warehousing, and external logistics providers to maintain a stable and reliable supply chain.
  • Lead cross-functional improvement initiatives that enhance operational effectiveness and customer experience.
  • Build strong relationships with domestic and international stakeholders to resolve operational issues and drive alignment.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to the team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
  • 5+ years of experience within a freight forwarder, carrier, or logistics environment, with expertise in air and/or ocean freight
  • Fluent Japanese and business-level English communication skills
  • Strong understanding of customs regulations, international trade, and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with a logical and analytical approach
  • Proven ability to build and maintain productive relationships with customers, suppliers, logistics partners, and internal stakeholders

Nice to Have

  • Experience using SAP and/or JDE
  • People leadership or team management experience
  • Knowledge of transportation cost modelling and optimisation
  • Experience working within a multinational or matrix organisation
