We are seeking a talented Lead Technical Recruiter to join our team and lead our efforts in sourcing, attracting, and hiring top technical talent in the Japanese market. The ideal candidate will be fluent in Japanese and English, with proficiency in a third language preferred. They will have a strong track record of success in recruiting, particularly in the Japanese market, and experience leading a small team or function.

This role is hybrid based out of Tokyo, Japan.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute recruitment strategies to attract and hire top technical talent in Japan, including engineers, developers, and other technical roles.
  • Source candidates through various channels, including online platforms, networking events, and industry connections.
  • Manage the full recruitment lifecycle, from sourcing and screening candidates to negotiating offers and onboarding new hires.
  • Collaborate with hiring managers and senior leaders to understand hiring needs and priorities, and provide strategic guidance on talent acquisition.
  • Lead and mentor a small team of recruiters, providing coaching and support to help them succeed in their roles.
  • Stay current on industry trends and best practices in recruiting, and continually seek opportunities to improve our recruitment processes and candidate experience.
  • Handle administrative tasks related to recruitment, including maintaining applicant tracking systems, preparing job postings, and managing recruitment budgets.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Fluency in Japanese and English; proficiency in a third language preferred.
  • At least 8 years of experience in recruiting, with a focus on technical roles.
  • Proven success in sourcing and closing top technical talent in the Japanese market.
  • Experience working on a distributed or global team, with the ability to collaborate effectively across time zones and cultures.
  • Prior experience leading a small team or function, with a strong track record of coaching and developing team members.
  • Familiarity with campus or university recruiting strategies and best practices.
  • Knowledge of local labor laws and regulations in Japan.
  • Open to hybrid work arrangements, with the ability to work in the office 1-3 days per week and minimal travel as needed.
