Role Overview We are seeking a skilled and strategic Underwriting Section Manager to join our Underwriting Management Department. In this pivotal role, you will oversee automobile insurance underwriting policies, manage regulatory compliance and negotiations with the Financial Services Agency (FSA), and drive governance at the headquarters level.
This position offers a structured transition, allowing you to initially leverage your current strengths while progressively scaling up your responsibilities within the department.
Key Responsibilities
> Regulatory & Compliance Management: Draft, revise, and manage the abolishment of internal regulations and operational manuals specifically for negotiations and compliance with the Financial Services Agency (FSA).
> Underwriting Approval: Review, evaluate, and grant final approval for complex automobile insurance underwriting applications.
> Policy Formulation: Develop, optimize, and update insurance underwriting policies, risk guidelines, and standard operating procedures.
> Strategic Alignment: Collaborate with headquarters leadership to ensure underwriting practices align with broader corporate risk appetites and regulatory changes.
> Ad-hoc Governance: Execute related management duties to support the efficiency and compliance of the Underwriting Department.
Required Experience & Skills (Screening Criteria)
To be successfully evaluated for this role, candidates must possess:
> Core Experience: Proven experience in a planning, management, or corporate governance role specifically located within the headquarters of a non-life insurance company.
> Domain Expertise: Strong foundational knowledge of automobile insurance products, underwriting principles, and risk assessment.
> Regulatory Familiarity: Direct experience or a deep understanding of dealing with regulatory bodies, ideally the FSA.
> Leadership Traits: Excellent decision-making abilities, high attention to detail, and the capacity to lead compliance-driven initiatives.
> Business Japanese Level (JLPT N2 and above)
Compensation & Benefits
> Estimated Annual Salary: JPY 5,000,000 - JPY 7,000,000 (Commensurate with experience and skills)
