As a Vision System Engineer, you will support global manufacturing sites by delivering practical, high-impact automation solutions. You will focus on enhancing inspection processes through vision systems and AI-based analysis, helping reduce scrap, improve quality, and increase operational efficiency. This is a hands-on technical role with global exposure, working closely with cross-functional teams to implement scalable solutions.
Our Team
You will join the Global Operation Capability (GOC) Automation Task Force, a Japan-based team that operates as a specialized global function supporting critical automation initiatives across Molex sites worldwide.
The team leverages Japan’s strong ecosystem of high-quality equipment manufacturers and collaborates closely with manufacturing engineering teams known for precision machining and high-speed assembly. Together, the team accelerates global automation and delivers impactful solutions to urgent business needs.
What You Will Do
•Provide hands-on support to global sites for vision-based inspection automation and system implementation
•Design and propose inspection solutions using commercially available vision systems and equipment
•Reduce scrap and labor costs by implementing 100% automated inspection processes
•Develop inspection methodologies, including optical system design (lighting, lenses, and inspection logic)
•Drive adoption of AI-based image analysis for complex visual inspection challenges
•Support robot guidance applications by enabling vision-based position recognition and control
•Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deploy scalable automation solutions globally
•(Optional) Contribute to equipment design through 3D CAD drafting to expand solution capability
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
•Experience designing and implementing automated vision inspection systems using commercial machine-vision equipment
•Strong understanding of optics and inspection logic, including lighting design and lens selection
•Proven ability to develop inspection concepts and execute solutions independently
•Business-level English and native or upper business-level Japanese
What Will Put You Ahead
•Experience working with vision systems from multiple manufacturers
•Hands-on experience automating manual inspection processes
•Experience with vision-guided robotics (“robot eye” applications)
•Practical experience with AI-based image analysis
•Experience in hardware design and/or 3D CAD drafting
•Additional language skills (e.g., English advanced level, Chinese, or Spanish)
