Advanced IT and OT Engineer

Your new role
As our new Advanced IT and OT Engineer at Koriyama Factory, you’ll act as the IT solution owner for production IT and OT systems – making sure they run reliably, comply with regulatory standards and continuously evolve to meet business needs. This is a hands-on individual contributor role where your technical depth, judgement and collaboration skills will shape how a newly formed team builds its ways of working.
Day-to-day your tasks will include:
- Operating, maintaining and supporting the IT and OT parts of production solutions at Koriyama Factory, including PLC and HMI-based systems and full lifecycle management
- Acting as IT solution manager in line with Novo Nordisk SOPs, GAMP, GMP and Computer System Validation requirements
- Representing IT and OT solutions in your area during internal and external audits and regulatory inspections
- Troubleshooting and resolving technical issues to minimise downtime and keep production running smoothly
- Collaborating with Production, Quality Control, Quality Assurance, Facility and Business Support departments to ensure IT/OT solutions are aligned with business and patient needs
- Contributing as a subject matter expert to cross-functional projects at department and site level, including documentation, timelines and budget input
- Driving continuous improvements and bringing fresh thinking to how we operate IT and OT in production
Your new department
In Global Manufacturing & Supply, we cover the full value chain from drug and device development to marketed Novo Nordisk products. We are more than 30,000 colleagues across the globe with the shared responsibility of scaling molecules, processes, devices, and products, dedicated to supplying life-saving medicines to the patients who need them most.
You’ll join a newly established IT/OT team of 9 colleagues at the Koriyama site, working alongside two other Advanced IT & OT Engineers in the same role. The atmosphere is warm, friendly and collaborative – everyone is eager to learn and build something new together. Your manager has done this job before, focuses genuinely on personal development, and leads by trusting and empowering people rather than micromanaging.
Your skills & qualifications
We’re looking for an experienced, hands-on IT/OT specialist who enjoys taking ownership of their area and thrives in a collaborative team. You’ll bring with you:
- Solid experience working in line with GAMP and/or GMP standards, including Computer System Validation (must have)
- Strong hands-on experience with PLCs and HMIs in a manufacturing or production environment (must have); experience with Mitsubishi Electric platforms is a plus
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in IT or automation engineering, ideally including IT and OT solution management
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate technical topics for non-technical colleagues
- Intermediate or higher level of English; Japanese language skills are preferred but not required
- A relevant technical background in IT, OT, Automation, Engineering or a related discipline
