Mujin is a global leader in industrial automation, redefining supply chain efficiency through MujinOS—our intelligent operating system for robotics. At our core is Machine Intelligence (MujinMI), a unique approach that leverages real-time digital twins and advanced perception, planning, and control algorithms to achieve fully autonomous operations.

Our flagship product, MujinController, empowers users with a highly configurable, no-code interface. By integrating cutting-edge motion planning and computer vision, it enables seamless automation for complex applications such as palletizing, picking, and truck unloading.

Headquartered in Japan with a growing presence in the US, China, and Europe, we invite you to join a dynamic environment where you can shape the future of automation.

About the Role

The team is currently small, and you will play a key role in owning the architecture, evolution, and technical direction of Mujin's large-scale C/C++ build systems.

This role focuses on build-system architecture, dependency management, build performance, developer productivity, and long-term maintainability.

While CI/CD infrastructure is an important supporting component, this is primarily a build-systems engineering role rather than a DevOps or release-engineering position.

Responsibilities

  • Own the architecture and technical direction of Mujin's build systems.
  • Drive technical decisions regarding dependency management, build graph design, toolchain integration, and build-performance optimization.
  • Identify architectural bottlenecks and propose long-term improvements to build-system maintainability and developer productivity.
  • Create prototypes and technical proposals to evaluate and communicate architectural improvements.
  • Manage and improve CI infrastructure and developer tooling that support the build ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to improve development workflows, build reliability, and engineering productivity.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience owning or driving the architecture of large-scale C/C++ build systems.
  • Deep understanding of build-system architecture, dependency management, compiler toolchains, linkers, build reproducibility, and build-performance optimization.
  • Strong knowledge of CMake and modern C/C++ build environments.
  • Experience integrating build systems within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language used for internal tooling (Python or Go).
  • Working knowledge of Bash scripting, Linux administration, and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Git version control and collaborative development workflows.

Preferred Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with Bazel, JHbuild, or Gnome build tools, or building complex, distributed build systems.
  • Knowledge of package management systems across multiple languages (Python, C++, Rust, or JavaScript).
  • Experience with Kubernetes
  • Experience writing technical proposals and design specifications.
  • Familiarity with Agile software development.
  • Ideal Candidates

Ideal candidates have experience in roles such as:

    • Build Systems Engineer
    • Build Infrastructure Engineer
    • Developer Productivity Engineer
    • Compiler Infrastructure Engineer
    • Candidates whose primary experience is limited to CI/CD operations, platform administration, or release management without ownership of build-system architecture may not be a strong fit.

    • Resume Screening
    • Take-home coding test
    • HR interview
    • Technical interview
    • Culture/Team fit interview
