Here, Legal is not a second line of defense or a passive auditing function that monitors from a distance. We stand right beside the business—not to block risks, but to figure out “how to make it happen” together and push forward.

We collaborate with a diverse range of partners, from major manufacturers to startups and research institutions. Dealing with a wide array of contract types, you will engage in discussions with business members on complex, unprecedented issues unique to Physical AI—such as joint R&D, IP, and data.

The Artificial Intelligence Robotics Association (AIRoA) is a newly established organization managing a 20-billion-yen national project. This is a rare opportunity to build the legal framework from the ground up.

AIロボット協会（AIRoA）は、200億円規模の国家プロジェクトを担う立ち上げ期の組織。法務の『型』もこれから整えていく段階で、事業に並走しながら自分の手で法務を形づくっていける裁量があります。

Position Overview

As a Legal Specialist at the Artificial Intelligence Robotics Association (AIRoA), you will handle legal operations that support organizational management and large-scale projects. On a day-to-day basis, you will collaborate closely with the business strategy team to understand business objectives and jointly develop practical solutions to address legal and risk aspects.

【Key Responsibilities】

1. Contract Drafting, Review, and Legal Checks (Core Responsibility) Draft and review various agreements (NDAs, service agreements, joint research and development contracts, etc.) with member companies, research institutions, and subcontractors.
2. Establishment and Maintenance of Internal Regulations and Guidelines
3. Intellectual Property and Data Management Clarify key legal issues surrounding IP and data usage, and support consensus-building with both internal and external stakeholders.
4. Legal Verification for Public Agencies Review and ensure legal compliance for contracts and reporting submitted to public organizations such as NEDO.
5. Corporate Governance, Risk, and Compliance Support the operation of the Board of Directors and various committees, and establish and operate corporate governance frameworks suitable for a general incorporated association.

AIロボット協会（AIRoA）の法務担当として、組織運営と大型プロジェクトを支える法務業務を担っていただきます。日常的には事業戦略チームと密に連携し、事業の目的を理解したうえで、契約・リスク面の実現策を一緒に検討します。

① 各種契約の作成・レビュー／リーガルチェック（会員企業・研究機関・再委託先とのNDA、業務委託、共同研究・共同開発 等） ※中心業務

② 規程・ガイドラインの整備

③ 知財・データの取り扱いに関する論点整理と、社内外の合意形成の支援

④ NEDO等の公的機関との契約・報告に関する法的確認

⑤ 理事会・各種委員会の運営サポート、リスク・コンプライアンス対応（一般社団法人としてのコーポレート・ガバナンスの整備・運用）

The Artificial Intelligence Robotics Association (AIRoA) was established in December 2024 and entered its full-scale operational phase in FY2025. We are currently at the stage of establishing our core legal infrastructure—from contract templates and data-sharing frameworks to membership regulations and compliance policies. ●Recruitment Background

At the Artificial Intelligence Robotics Association (AIRoA), multiple initiatives are progressing simultaneously—including collecting and integrating robot operational data, developing robot foundation models, and executing joint projects with member organizations.

As a result, requirement levels regarding contracts with member companies, research institutions, and subcontractors—as well as data/IP handling, governance, and compliance—are rising rapidly. In particular, joint R&D agreements and intellectual property will serve as key focus areas moving forward, making the reinforcement of our legal capabilities an urgent priority.

To support the expansion of our projects and transition toward organizational self-sustainability, we are now opening a new legal position to expand our team.

●Future Mission

Upon joining, you will first build a thorough understanding of the Artificial Intelligence Robotics Association’s (AIRoA) business structure and stakeholders through day-to-day operations, such as drafting, reviewing, and conducting legal checks on various contracts.

From there, you will gradually step into higher-level strategic initiatives. These include clarifying issues and supporting consensus-building around IP and data handling, shaping data licensing frameworks, and establishing internal policies for privacy and AI governance.

入社後はまず、各種契約のドラフト・レビューやリーガルチェックといった日常業務を通じて、AIロボット協会（AIRoA）の事業構造とステークホルダーを理解していただきます。

そのうえで、知財・データの取り扱いに関する論点整理と合意形成の支援、データライセンスの考え方の検討、プライバシー・AIガバナンスに関する社内ルールづくりなど、より上流のテーマにも段階的に参画いただきます。

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• 3+ years of legal experience (in-house legal department, law firm, etc.)
• Practical skill to draft and review contracts independently (must be able to handle drafting in addition to reviewing)
• Fundamental knowledge of Japanese law (Bachelor of Laws, Juris Doctor / Law School graduate, or equivalent practical experience)
• Constructive communication skills to collaborate with business units (an attitude of understanding business objectives and jointly developing solutions rather than simply blocking risks)
• Practical experience in AT LEAST ONE of the following:


1. Drafting and reviewing agreements (NDAs, service agreements, joint research and development contracts, etc.)
2. Corporate governance operations (establishing internal regulations, managing corporate bodies, building compliance systems, internal controls/whistleblowing, etc.)

*Currently, work is distributed within the team, and you will initially focus on contract operations. Knowledge of specific industries or project-specific operations (such as NEDO) can be acquired after joining.

・法務経験3年以上（企業法務部門・法律事務所 等）

・契約書を自力でドラフト／レビューできる実務スキル（レビューだけでなくドラフトまで対応できること）

・日本法に関する基礎知識（法学部卒／ロースクール修了、または同等の実務経験）

・事業部門と建設的に議論できるコミュニケーション力（事業の目的を理解し、リスクを一方的に止めるのではなく実現策を一緒に考えられる姿勢）

・下記いずれかの実務経験

1. 契約書（NDA、業務委託、共同研究・共同開発 等）のドラフト・レビュー経験

2. ガバナンス関連の実務経験（社内規程整備、機関運営、コンプライアンス体制構築、内部統制・内部通報 等）

※現状はチーム内で業務を分担しており、まずは契約実務を軸にご活躍いただきます。特定業界やNEDO等プロジェクト特有の実務は入社後のキャッチアップで問題ありません。

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience providing legal counsel and managing internal alignments closely with business units (a proven track record of balancing legal risks with business goals to find practical solutions)

Knowledge of the AI/data domain or a strong willingness to learn (ability to proactively grasp tech-related legal issues, such as the relationship between training data and resulting AI models)

Legal experience in the IT, AI, robotics, or startup sectors

Experience with contracts and guidelines related to data, AI, and intellectual property

Legal experience related to government agencies, R&D projects, or subsidized/commissioned projects

Experience in governance and regulation establishment for non-profit entities (general incorporated associations, foundations, etc.)

English proficiency to handle contract reading and email correspondence (Plus) / A curious mindset to enthusiastically tackle new and unprecedented issues

We currently operate out of a spacious office and research facility of over 1,000 m² located in the Ryutsu Center area. In this space, our business teams and engineering teams work in close collaboration, advancing both day-to-day operations and R&D with AI robots always close at hand. The facility is frequently visited not only by members of the AI Robot Association, but also by engineers and researchers from partner companies and representatives from member companies. As a result, it serves as a hub where diverse experts at the forefront of AI and robotics gather and interact.
