DUV Field Service Engineer Kumamoto AVSM(SONY-TSMC new Joint Venture)

Context

Field Service Engineers of ASML DUV lithography system in Customer Support organization to support Advanced Vision Semiconductor Manufacturing (AVSM) in Kumamoto, Japan. The role contributes to the start-up and stable operation of a new development and production site for next-generation image sensors.
Key responsibilities include supporting the maintenance and performance monitoring of ASML DUV lithography systems, as well as installing, qualifying, maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving the systems at the customer site while ensuring safety, quality, and performance. The role also involves close collaboration with customers and internal teams, technical knowledge sharing, and the development of local support capability.

Requirements

  • University, college of technology (Kosen), or technical high school graduate.
  • English skills(Current English proficiency is not required; candidates should be comfortable communicating in English and willing to learn)
  • Customer-focused mindset.
  • Good manual dexterity and the ability to perform precise hands-on work.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively with both internal teams and customers.
  • Flexibility to work rotating day and night shifts, with three consecutive 12-hour workdays followed by three days off.
  • Strong sense of responsibility and ownership.
  • Willingness to take on a wide range of tasks and support the team wherever needed.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor equipment performance, collect and analyze diagnostic data, and troubleshoot system issues.
  • Escalate complex problems to the appropriate support level and provide clear technical handovers and documentation.
  • Replace parts, optimize settings, perform repairs, and confirm safe and stable equipment recovery.
  • Prepare and execute installation, qualification, maintenance, and recovery activities in accordance with approved procedures.
  • Ensure that required parts, tools, documents, permits, and technical information are available before work begins.
  • Provide customers with guidance on system operation, malfunction recovery, and routine equipment care.
  • Collaborate with customers, internal teams, and technical support functions to ensure safety, quality, performance, and schedule adherence.
  • Share technical knowledge, document lessons learned and recurring issues, and support coaching and local capability development.

This position requires access to controlled technology, as defined in the United States Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. § 730, et seq.). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work. Business demands may require ASML to proceed with candidates who are immediately eligible to access controlled technology.
