English to Japanese Translator (Subtitling)

Responsibilities: 

• Responsible for all aspects of subtitle file creation, depending on assignment, whether Conforming, Timing and Spotting, Translating or Proofreading/QC’ing of subtitle files using SSTG1Pro subtitling software and/or Pixelogic proprietary cloud based subtitling software.
• Leverage in-house glossary tool for consistency across products as well as follow client style guide specifications.
• Handle rejections/make corrections in files.
• Meet tight deadlines while maintaining a high standard of quality.

• Manage assignments on a pro-active basis and escalate issues to management.
• Remain current with industry trends and adapt to evolving client requirements.
• Maintain the confidentiality of sensitive content.
• Other miscellaneous tasks as assigned by manager(s).

Requirements

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's Degree, preferably in Japanese, linguistics and language study majors and/or Entertainment and Media
• Excellent command of English
• Minimum of 2 years of subtitle translation and proofreading experience required
• Knowledge of professional scripting, and subtitling software highly desirable
• Deep sense of urgency and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high volume
• Punctuality, dependability, and willingness to adapt to last-minute changes to programming and industry
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Positive attitude when experiencing obstacles and enthusiastic to get things done
• Ability to follow technical/style guide for multiple client content types
• Must be residing in Tokyo, Japan
