[Main Responsibilities]
Brand Management & Corporate Identity
- Act as the primary brand custodian for Covestro in Japan, managing the corporate identity and brand design across all touchpoints to ensure brand consistency and integrity.
- Support Business Entities in promoting the Covestro brand at exhibitions, trade shows, and industry events, ensuring consistent messaging and maximum visibility.
- Develop and maintain brand standards by reviewing and approving branding assets created by Business Entities, sites, and corporate functions.
Strategic Communications
- Independently develop and execute Covestro Japan's corporate communications strategy and programs to build and maintain a strong brand reputation aligned with the company's strategic vision and values.
- Lead the adaptation of global/regional corporate messaging to local needs while ensuring alignment with Covestro's corporate strategy.
- Plan and execute comprehensive PR campaigns that position Covestro as an industry leader in strategic focus areas, supporting business growth and thought leadership.
Internal & Change Communication
- Lead the employee communication and change communication initiatives at Covestro in Japan, with specific focus on managing stakeholder communications related to transformation programs (e.g. Evolve and Covestro partnership with XRG), ensuring smooth transitions and maximum employee awareness.
- Design and deliver internal communication programs using high-quality content and compelling storytelling to strengthen employee engagement.
- Produce and manage newsletters, intranet content (CovestroNet), town halls, and leadership messages.
Industry & Media Relations
- Strengthen Covestro's visibility and position the company as a thought leader through strategic participation in industry fairs, conferences, and forums.
- Develop and leverage relationships with key media, developing storylines and media pitches aligned with global objectives and regional developments.
- Create high-quality content, including articles, press releases, blog posts, executive speeches, presentations, and other materials that reinforce Covestro's brand narrative.
- Position the Managing Director, leadership team, and designated spokespersons as industry visionaries and thought leaders through media engagement, speaking opportunities, industry events, and consistent social media presence (e.g. LinkedIn and Yammer) to amplify their expertise and insights.
- Effectively manage and continuously enhance Covestro Japan's corporate website to strengthen stakeholder engagement and brand reputation.
Crisis & CSR Communication
- Lead crisis communication preparedness and response, including training internal stakeholders on media interaction and crisis handling protocols.
- Support the communication and promotion of CSR initiatives aligned with Covestro's purpose of making the world a brighter place.

By translating global strategy into locally relevant communications, the position directly supports business growth by strengthening thought leadership, enhancing brand equity, and building stakeholder trust. It also safeguards the company's reputation in times of crisis and drives employee engagement and alignment during periods of change and transformation.
[Qualification Requirements (Education & Work Experience)]
- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in corporate communications within multinational companies (preferably in the chemical, materials, or industrial sector); familiarity with corporate writing styles and experience in cross-regional collaboration.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Japanese, with professional experience in speechwriting and storytelling.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a proven track record of stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration in an international environment.
- Experience in communicating topics such as sustainability, circular economy, innovation, AI and digitalization, transformation, and CSR is an advantage.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders.
- High-energy professional with the ability to work effectively under pressure, manage tight deadlines, and balance competing priorities.
- Proficiency in digital communication tools and social media platforms.
