Key Responsibilities

1. HR Operations

  • Manage employee-related HR processes, including onboarding, transfers, promotions, leaves of absence, organizational changes, and offboarding.
  • Maintain accurate employee data and employment-related documentation.
  • Coordinate with Payroll, Benefits, other HR teams, and external vendors.
  • Respond to employee questions regarding HR policies, programs, and procedures.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of HR processes.

2. HR Business Partnering & Manager Support

  • Serve as a day-to-day HR contact for employees and managers.
  • Support managers on organizational changes, workforce planning, employee development, and other people-related matters.
  • Translate HR and management decisions into concrete actions and coordinate implementation with relevant stakeholders.
  • Track and follow up on agreed HR initiatives and actions through completion.
  • Support the implementation and operation of global and regional HR programs in Japan.

3. Talent Development & Learning

  • Coordinate and follow up on talent reviews, succession planning, and employee development plans.
  • Work with managers to identify individual and organizational development needs.
  • Plan and coordinate manager training, employee development, and other internal learning programs.
  • Implement global and regional learning and development programs in Japan.
  • Follow up on learning initiatives and continuously improve programs based on feedback and business needs.

4. Employee Relations & Performance Management

  • Provide first-line support for employee relations and workplace-related issues.
  • Work with senior HR colleagues on more complex or sensitive cases.
  • Support managers with performance evaluations, feedback, and performance improvement.
  • Coordinate company-wide HR processes, including annual performance reviews.

5. Talent Acquisition Support

  • Partner with the dedicated Talent Acquisition professional, who leads recruiting activities, and provide support from an HR and organizational perspective as needed.
  • Participate in selected interviews and hiring discussions.
  • Support offer discussions and related activities.
  • Support onboarding and help new employees successfully integrate into the organization.

Qualifications

  • Approximately 3-6 years of hands-on HR experience.
  • Experience in HR Operations, HR Generalist, plant HR, HR Business Partnering, or a related role.
  • Practical experience with employee lifecycle processes such as onboarding, transfers, leaves of absence, and offboarding, as well as supporting employees and managers.
  • Basic knowledge of Japanese labor practices and HR policies and processes.
  • HR experience in a manufacturing environment, such as semiconductor, electronics, automotive, or automotive components, is highly desirable.

Language Skills

  • Japanese: Native level
  • English: Conversational level
  • English communication is an important part of this role. The successful candidate should be able to participate in meetings with global HR colleagues, explain situations, ask questions, and express their views in English. We value a willingness to communicate proactively in English more than perfect fluency. There will also be opportunities to prepare documents and presentation materials in English.
