Japan Legal Manager
What You Will Do
Ø Team with Division Counsel and other members of the global legal department to seamlessly provide legal advice to the business
Ø Prepare, review, and provide guidance on contracts, including but not limited to sales agreements, procurement agreements, and confidentiality agreements
Ø Manage outside counsel in lawsuits, disputes, and other matters
Ø Work with parent company employment counsel to advise the human resources department on employment matters
Ø Conduct or support investigations under the direction of Division Counsel or other members of the global legal department
Ø Provide training to the business on various legal and compliance topics
Ø Establish relationships with clients, learn the business, and earn trusted adviser status
Ø Build and maintain relationships with outside counsel capable of handling anticipated matters across various subject matters
Ø Understand and apply both the company vision and the legal department vision
Ø Stay abreast of key developments in relevant law, assess impact on business, and communicate to relevant business stakeholders
Ø Continuously explore opportunities to deliver legal services more efficiently
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
Ø Fluent (oral and written) in English and Japanese; able to review and prepare legal documents in either language
Ø 5+ years' experience in a legal role
Ø Experience in the legal department of a multi-national company
Ø Highest standard of integrity
Ø Strong critical thinking skills
Ø Strong communication skills
Ø Confidence in expressing view in an executive setting
Ø An understanding of fundamental business and commercial concepts and practices
Ø Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Japanese : Native level
English : Fluent Level / Comfort dealing with Legal Documents in English
