Astroscale is seeking a motivated individual for the position of Manager of Global Engineering. The Manager of Global Engineering will play a critical role in coordinating and defining the global Astroscale standard engineering process. This position requires strong experience and understanding of the engineering development process and excellent verbal and written communication skills to work directly with our highly skilled and talented global engineering team. The position will also be critical in coordinating and facilitate sharing of global engineering knowledge and tools to improve efficiency of the engineering development process and to leverage global lessons learned and sharing of engineering technologies where possible.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and document a standard Astroscale global engineering process and best practices based on input from all global programs.
  • Facilitate communication and collaboration among engineering managers across different global offices, ensuring consistency in technical goals, engineering tools, and engineering process.
  • Coordinate and document global Astroscale quality assurance and product assurance standards and best practices based on input from all global programs.
  • Participate in design reviews and technical meetings as required. Lead the development and maintenance of a comprehensive lessons learned database based on input from all global Astroscale engineering projects.
  • Identifying opportunities for engineering efficiency improvements and implementing requirements management and MBSE tools to optimize standard engineering processes and workflows.
  • Support evaluation and management of global Astroscale intellectual property and know how.
  • Reports to Global Chief Engineer and supports all tasks and efforts of the Global Chief Engineering office.


Essential Skills and Experience

  • Minimum of 8 years of hands-on experience in systems engineering or technical management roles on space engineering projects or related technical field.
  • Broad knowledge of spacecraft subsystems & various satellite engineering disciplines.
  • Familiarity with space industry standards, best practices, and engineering development process.
  • Effective communication skills including strong written and verbal communication capabilities in English.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative international environment.
  • Degree in engineering or related field.


Desirable Skills

  • Experience with the entire design life cycle of satellite development projects such as: mission analysis design, requirements development, system budgets, design reviews, assembly integration and test (AIT), launch operations, and in-orbit operations.
  • Knowledge of space debris, space situational awareness, rendezvous, docking, proximity operations and/or formation flying.
  • Familiarity with space related international export regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Experience working in an international organization
