PROCESSING OPERATIONS SUPERINTENDENT (GREENFIELD GOLD MINE SIERRA LEONE)

ABOUT US

FG Gold Limited has been awarded the Baomahun Gold concession project located in Valunia Chiefdom, Bo District, and is currently in the development phase. To support this project development, FG Gold Limited is seeking a qualified individual to fill the vacant position of Processing Operations Superintendent.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Processing Operations Superintendent is responsible for leading all processing plant operations for the fixed processing plant during the construction, commissioning, start-up and operational phases of the Greenfield gold mining project.

The role ensures the processing plant is operated safely, efficiently and cost-effectively to achieve throughput, recovery and production targets across crushing, grinding, gravity, flotation, CIL/CIP, elution, carbon regeneration, tailings and reagent circuits.

The incumbent will establish operating procedures, manning plans and performance standards, lead the Operations team through ramp-up to steady-state production, and drive continuous improvement using industry best practice.

The position plays a critical role in ensuring operational readiness by developing operating philosophies and standard operating procedures prior to plant commissioning, and supporting the transition into a high-performing gold processing operation.

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the processing plant across all circuits to meet production targets for throughput, recovery and grade; monitor and optimise plant performance against budget and production plans; ensure operating procedures and standard work instructions are developed, implemented and followed; coordinate operations shift rosters, manning levels and shift handover processes; liaise closely with Maintenance to maximise equipment availability and minimise unplanned downtime; support ramp-up activities and the transition from commissioning to steady-state operations.
  • Participate in commissioning and start-up activities for the processing plant; develop operating philosophies, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and process control strategies prior to commissioning; support vendor acceptance testing and the training of operators on new plant equipment; assist in developing the plant operating model, manning plan and shift structure; ensure operational readiness milestones are achieved ahead of first production.
  • Monitor and report daily, weekly and monthly production performance including tonnes processed, recovery and grade; investigate and address production variances and plant performance issues; analyse plant performance data to identify improvement opportunities; drive continuous improvement initiatives across the Operations function.
  • Assist with preparation of the annual operations budget and production cost estimates; monitor operating costs including power, water and reagent consumption against budget; identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising safety or production targets.
  • Lead, coach and mentor the Processing Operations team including shift supervisors and operators; develop training and competency development plans for the Operations workforce; support the Company's Local Content objectives through development of local employees.
  • Promote Zero Harm principles across all processing operations activities; ensure operating practices comply with statutory safety requirements and environmental regulations; participate in Job Safety Analysis (JSA) development, Permit to Work processes, safety inspections and risk assessments; support incident investigations where required; develop effective working relationships with Metallurgy, Maintenance, Reliability, Supply Chain, Warehouse, Contractors, OEM Representatives, Project Engineers and the HSE Department.

QUALIFICATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

Educational Background:

Holds a National Diploma or Degree in in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, Extractive Metallurgy or a related discipline. A Mine Manager's Certificate or Processing Plant Manager's Certificate is desirable.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 8 years' experience in gold processing plant operations, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or superintendent role.
  • Previous experience in a Greenfield mining project, commissioning or operational readiness environment.
  • Experience operating crushing, grinding, gravity, flotation, CIL/CIP, elution, carbon regeneration, tailings and reagent circuits.
  • Demonstrated experience managing shift-based operations teams; experience in large-scale gold mining operations and DCS/SCADA process control systems is desirable.

  • Frequent interaction with operational and project teams.
