Your Job
As a Product Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design and development of innovative Board-to-Board (BTB) connectors used in smartphones, tablets, and AR/VR devices.
Based in Yokohama (Minato Mirai), Kanagawa, you will have the opportunity to engage in the entire product lifecycle, from initial concept development through mass production launch.
Our Team
You will join MSBU Engineering 1, Group 1, a team responsible for the design and development of BTB connectors primarily for the mobile device market.
Because we develop products for the fast-paced mobile industry, our development cycle from concept creation to mass production is typically around one year. This allows engineers to quickly transform their ideas into real products and experience the excitement of seeing their designs integrated into smartphones and other consumer devices.
Our team currently consists of four engineers ranging from their 20s to 40s, creating a collaborative environment with diverse experience levels and perspectives.
What You Will Do
•Develop and evaluate product concepts using CAD and FEA in accordance with project plans.
•Propose product concepts to customers and align on product specifications.
•Design optimized connector solutions and create engineering drawings in collaboration with manufacturing and reliability engineering teams.
•Analyze prototype evaluation results, identify design issues, and implement improvements for mass production readiness.
•Support product launch activities at manufacturing sites, primarily located in Shizuoka and Kagoshima.
Who You Are – Basic Qualifications
•Proven ability to take ownership of assigned projects and successfully drive them to completion.
•Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Science, or a related technical field.
•Minimum 5 years of experience in connector product development.
•Experience with 3D CAD design and drafting (specific CAD software experience is not required; NX is used internally).
•Japanese: Native-level proficiency, or JLPT N2 or equivalent for non-native speakers.
•English: Ability to communicate effectively through emails and prepare technical documents and presentations.
