Production Team Leader
GE Healthcare Japan is seeking a Production Team Leader. This position plays a critical role in overseeing the production lines of advanced medical devices and driving the achievement of quality, efficiency, and safety targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage daily operations of the production team, maintaining high morale and productivity
- Drive execution of production plans and ensure achievement of SQDC (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) targets
- Promote continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and reduce costs (leveraging Lean and Six Sigma methodologies)
- Ensure compliance with quality standards (e.g., ISO 13485) and maintain consistent high-quality output
- Uphold safety regulations and policies to maintain a safe and compliant work environment
- Develop team members through coaching, training, and performance management to strengthen organizational capability
- Oversee maintenance and troubleshooting of production equipment
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and other stakeholders to resolve issues and optimize operations
- Analyze production data and lead KPI tracking and improvement initiatives
- Facilitate regular team meetings to promote communication, alignment, and timely problem resolution
- Communicate effectively with global teams in English as required
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing, including at least 3 years in a team leader or supervisory role
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Production, or related field) or equivalent practical experience
- Proven experience in shop floor management (production control, workforce allocation, productivity improvement)
- Strong knowledge and practical experience in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies
- Understanding of quality management systems such as ISO 13485
- Basic knowledge and experience in labor management and team leadership
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues, analyze root causes, and implement effective solutions
- Business-level proficiency in Japanese (reading, writing, and speaking)
- Working proficiency in English (able to read/write documents and participate in meetings and basic discussions)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in medical device manufacturing
- Hands-on experience with Value Stream Mapping (VSM) and Kanban implementation
- Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher)
- Experience working in multinational teams or global projects
