Department Overview
We are responsible for creating customer touchpoints in physical channels and driving business growth, with a core focus on the operation of Rakuten Mobile shops. Our stores are not merely places for signing up for services; they serve as the "front line of customer engagement," playing a vital role in supporting the brand experience by providing Rakuten Group services across telecommunications, finance, and e-commerce.

The Shop Operation Section serves as the "strategic hub" for store operations, handling everything from building the physical store network and supporting back-end call center functions to developing systems and device products that streamline in-store tasks. The Shop Development Group is responsible for planning and executing store opening strategies, which are the foundation of business growth, as well as managing lease agreements for existing locations. Beyond simple property selection, we drive the sustainable expansion of our store network by negotiating terms to maximize ROI(Return on investment), standardizing the entire store-opening process, and building a property management system that leverages technology.

Why We Hire

With the expansion of the Rakuten Mobile shop business, we need to strengthen our organizational structure to drive store opening strategies and operational decisions for existing stores based on high-level data analysis. The Shop Development Group handles a wide range of tasks, including identifying potential sites, assessing profitability, managing contracts, and improving business processes. To realize sustainable network expansion, it is critical to integrate market area data, competitor information, and existing store performance to make investment decisions that maximize ROI. Therefore, we are seeking a candidate who can drive consistent progress from data-driven store opening strategy planning to visualization of progress/profitability and operational improvement.

Position Details
In this position, you will contribute to the planning of Rakuten Mobile’s store opening strategies, the visualization and improvement of store development processes, and support for management decision-making through the analysis of market area data, competitor information, and existing store performance.

- Analyze market area data, competitor information, and existing store performance to plan and formulate store opening strategies that maximize ROI.

- Visualize store development progress and profitability, and build dashboards/reports to enable management to make rapid and accurate decisions.

- Model past store opening data to improve business processes, aiming to reduce lead time from site selection to store opening and achieve cost savings.

- Lead data-driven, multi-faceted decision-making regarding store openings and closures in collaboration with other departments.

Note: While we generally provide a five-day work week, you may be required to work on holidays depending on business circumstances.

Work Environment
Shop Development Group: 14 members
(1 Manager, 2 Assistant Managers, 11 Members)

Mandatory Qualifications:

- Experience in formulating business strategies, sales strategies, store opening strategies, or operational improvement measures based on quantitative data (e.g., sales results, market data, customer data, market area data) in a corporate or consulting environment.

- Practical experience in data processing and analysis using SQL, BI tools (Tableau, DOMO, etc.), and Excel, with a track record of integrating multiple data sources to identify issues, provide insights, and report results.

- Experience in translating analysis results into improvement actions or decision-making proposals and presenting them to relevant departments and management.

- Experience in driving projects or initiatives while coordinating with multiple stakeholders, organizing requirements, managing progress, and clarifying key issues.

- Experience in creating reports, proposals, and dashboard explanatory materials for management or department heads using PowerPoint or similar tools.

- TOEIC score of 600 or higher

Desired Qualifications:

- Experience in store opening strategy formulation or market area analysis in the retail, food & beverage, or telecommunications industries.

- Experience leading business investment decisions or operational improvement projects as a strategy consultant or in corporate planning.
