About the Role

As a Junior Relationship Manager for Corporate Coverage Japan, you will be responsible for supporting the management and growth of a portfolio of Japanese and multinational corporate clients across a broad range of banking products and services.


Working closely with senior relationship managers, product partners and Global Customer Partners (GCPs), you will help identify and originate new business opportunities, deepen customer relationships and increase ANZ's share of wallet through the delivery of tailored banking solutions.


You will play an important role in supporting portfolio growth, client acquisition, revenue generation and ongoing risk management, while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and ANZ's credit and governance standards.

What will your day look like?

As a Junior Relationship Manager, you will:

  • Manage and develop relationships with Japanese and multinational corporate clients, identifying opportunities to deepen customer engagement and grow revenue
  • Partner with Senior Relationship Managers, GCPs and product specialists to originate and execute lending, transaction banking, markets and capital markets opportunities
  • Support the acquisition of new-to-bank clients and contribute to initiatives that expand ANZ's corporate franchise in Japan
  • Maintain a detailed understanding of clients' businesses, financial needs and strategic priorities to deliver appropriate banking solutions
  • Ensure portfolio quality through effective credit management, KYC compliance, periodic reviews and adherence to regulatory and internal policy requirements

What will you bring?

To grow and be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:

  • Relationship management experience within corporate banking, institutional banking or financial services
  • Strong understanding of banking products and services, including lending, transaction banking and markets solutions
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong customer focus with the ability to build trusted, long-term client relationships
  • Sound commercial acumen and problem-solving capability
  • Ability to work collaboratively across product, coverage and support teams to deliver client outcomes
  • Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English, written and verbal (as the portfolio will consist of Japan headquartered corporate clients and multinational companies)
  • Experience working with Japanese corporate clients and multinational corporations
  • Client-facing experience within a banking or financial services environment
  • Exposure to capital markets, markets products or structured financing solutions
  • Knowledge of credit analysis and portfolio management processes
