Trade Systems Executive - Commercial Digital Tools

Why BAT Japan
Small enough that one person owning a platform can change how a national sales force works — large enough that the platform matters.

  • A market-leading annual performance bonus (subject to eligibility)

  • Health cover, transport support and a flexible holiday plan with additional incentives

  • English and Japanese language training, delivered on company time — English is development here, not a gate

  • A published capability framework for every role and grade — so you know precisely what the next grade requires, not just that progression exists — plus online learning and structured leadership programmes

  • Global Top Employer for the ninth consecutive year — certified across five regions and a record 44 countries

Tokyo, Japan · Full-time · Junior Executive

Own the digital tools our sales teams use every day — and be the reason they actually use them.

BAT is a global multi-category consumer goods business. Our purpose is to create A Better Tomorrow, with a vision to build a smokeless world — 34.1m consumers used our Smokeless Products as at 31 December 2025, generating 18.2% of Group revenue. In Japan, that growth depends on a field and trade organisation that can see what is happening in stores, in real time. The tools that make that possible would be yours.

The role
You are the business owner of BAT Japan's trade and field platforms. That means two things at once: shipping improvements that make the tools genuinely better, and doing the unglamorous work of adoption — training, coaching, chasing data quality — so the tools change how people actually work. Most system rollouts fail on the second part. You would be hired to make sure ours doesn't.

What you'll own

  • The rollout plan for each release — testing, readiness, and coordination across commercial and field teams

  • The improvement backlog: collecting what users actually complain about, prioritising it, and deciding what ships next

  • Adoption in the field — training, coaching and change support until the tool is part of the daily routine, not an extra step

  • Data quality and system reliability, including outlet and customer master data, and the corrective action when something drifts

  • The mapping of tools onto real commercial processes, so the system fits the work rather than the other way round

  • The relationship with IT teams and external vendors — updates, incidents, and holding them to their commitments

  • Documentation, access management and privacy compliance, kept current rather than reconstructed at audit time

What you'll bring

  • Hands-on experience taking a commercial system from pilot to scale in a consumer goods business — including the training and maintenance nobody puts on a slide

  • Comfort managing vendors and cross-functional stakeholders, and running a backlog and release cycle

  • Evidence you measure your own impact — adoption, data quality, commercial results — and change course when the numbers say so

  • Useful, not essential: field force tools, geo-mapping, CRM modules or retail engagement systems

Qualifications

  • 3–6 years in commercial, trade, sales operations or commercial transformation

  • A degree in business, information systems, data, engineering or similar

  • Advanced Japanese. English at upper-intermediate level is enough to start — we provide structured English training on company time if you want to go further

Whoever you are and wherever you're from, you can belong here — many nationalities, ages, genders and professional backgrounds, supported by Women in Leadership and B-United, our LGBTQ+ and allies network. Our Global Returners programme supports people restarting after time away from work. Need an adjustment during the process? Just tell us.
