Summary / Role Purpose

Join Ansys to partner with our customers to engineer what's ahead, solve their real-world engineering problems, deploy Ansys software in their design workflows, and grow Ansys’ business. As an Application Engineer (AE), you will be responsible for helping drive new growth and adoption of Digital Mission Engineering (DME) software (Systems Tool Kit, Orbit Determination Tool Kit, etc.) within key customer accounts in the Aerospace and Defense industries.

The Application Engineer II is responsible for leveraging domain engineering knowledge and relationships to help customers solving complex engineering problems using Ansys Digital Mission Engineering software and to support regional accounts with significant impact on software revenue. The role encompasses providing technical support of our customers, engaging in presale activities to support sales campaigns, delivering professional services to support software growth and helping translate customer requirements into exciting new product features.

Currently, AGI is searching for experienced candidates with a desire to make a meaningful contribution to the Aerospace and Defense community and who have the technical and interpersonal skills required to do so in our fast-paced work environment.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Apply engineering expertise and knowledge of Digital Mission Engineering and STK to provide highest level technical assistance to customers and channel partners, ensuring high-quality, timely customer service that results in improved customer satisfaction and productivity.
• Architect and develop holistic system-level solutions and workflows using STK by leveraging technologies and disciplines such as tool integration, model-based systems engineering, simulation process and data management, design exploration and optimization, material data management, and digital mission engineering.
• Develop competence as a product expert in the Digital Mission Engineering (DME) family of products in the field of multi-domain mission engineering.
• Own the customer problems, proactively engage with selected accounts to provide comprehensive solutions. Contribute to all technical activities throughout the sales opportunity lifecycle, interact with customers to understand their product design needs and engineering design workflows and articulate Ansys’ value proposition.
• Design/develop programming user interfaces, automation scripts and integration code in support of customer application.
• Gather customer requirements to support the improvement of Ansys software and collaborate with the Ansys product development teams to translate customer requirements into new product capabilities. Test new releases on industrial problems.
• Instruct introductory and intermediate training classes and contribute to the delivery of professional services for projects which might include collaborative work with other field engineers in the same or different disciplines.
• Develop and implement holistic system-level solutions by leveraging technologies and disciplines such as tool integration, model-based systems engineering, simulation process and data management, design exploration and optimization, and digital mission engineering.
• Participate in internal corporate initiatives to share knowledge and to create best practices, inside the discipline and cross-disciplines.
• Develop simulation best practices, solutions, FAQs for knowledge base.
• Operate as part of a dynamic team of global engineers, software developers and business professionals to assist customers in performing analyses, solving problems, and integrating and deploying custom solutions.
• Work in partnership with the sales teams to strategize and execute sales approaches to maximize sales objectives.

Minimum Education/Certification Requirements and Experience

• Required education and degree type: BS in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or related field.
• Required minimum years of professional experience in an engineering software environment: BS+2, MS+0.
• Demonstrated use of relevant Ansys software or knowledge of other commercial process integration, optimization, systems engineering, mission simulation, PLM, PDM, SPDM, and CAD software packages.
• Working knowledge of satellite orbits, space mission design, and aircraft systems.
• Proficiency in scripting/ development using one of more of the following languages: Python, MATLAB, C#, Java.
• Logical problem-solving, strong interpersonal and communication skills, fluent in writing and speaking English.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and work on multiple projects which are complex in nature.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to facilitate and conduct webinars and presentations to customers.
• Collaboration skills necessary to work with other departments, especially sales, marketing, business development, and product development.
• Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

• Experience in industry, namely in engineering, simulation and/or design processes.
• Demonstrated ability preparing and delivering various engineering-related presentations, both internally and externally.
• Preferred experience in Aerospace and Defense.
