Job Description:
Business Overview
Rakuten Group offers a wide range of services, including e-commerce, fintech, and telecommunications, leveraging its extensive membership base and data as core strengths of its ecosystem. In this role, you will contribute to driving business growth for Rakuten Ichiba within the e-commerce division.
Department Overview
Our organization is responsible for managing store operations and maximizing sales on "Rakuten Bic," an e-commerce site operated as a joint venture between Rakuten Group and Bic Camera.
This business combines Rakuten’s customer base and data with Bic Camera’s product lineup and retail expertise, aiming to drive sales growth from both online and offline perspectives.
Furthermore, as we operate in a small team of five or fewer, every individual’s decision-making has a significant impact on the business.
Position:
Why We Hire
As our business expands, we are looking for a new member to advance our sales maximization strategies and strengthen our execution capabilities.
We are seeking a proactive individual who can identify challenges and drive initiatives forward within our small, agile team. Please note that for this position, we value potential over experience, and we highly welcome applications from early-career professionals.
Position Details
In this role, you will be responsible for maximizing sales on the "Rakuten Bic" e-commerce site through the following tasks:
- Sales structure analysis: Breaking down metrics (traffic, conversion rate, average order value, etc.) and identifying key challenges.
- Planning and execution of sales promotion initiatives: Managing advertisements, campaigns, page optimizations, etc.
- Driving data-driven improvement cycles: Developing and testing hypotheses.
- Analysis and strategy development: Leveraging Rakuten Ichiba’s data to inform business decisions.
- Offline market research and implementation: Researching physical electronics and retail stores, and incorporating findings into online strategies.
- Operational efficiency and process improvement: Streamlining workflows and building scalable systems.
In this position, you will go beyond routine operations. You will be expected to deconstruct the factors that drive sales, take full ownership from identifying challenges to executing solutions, and gain hands-on experience in growing the business yourself.
Work Environment
- Access to Rakuten Group's extensive data and customer base.
- Lean, agile team: You will be part of a small, high-impact team of five or fewer.
- Cross-functional exposure: Your responsibilities are not limited; you will work across various areas of the business.
- Direct impact on business performance: Your initiatives will directly correlate with sales, and you will see the results clearly reflected in the numbers.
- Hybrid retail perspective: You will gain experience by integrating both online and offline (brick-and-mortar) insights.
Because we operate as a small team, there is no "pre-defined manual" for your tasks. You will be expected to identify challenges independently and drive progress through continuous trial and error.
This is an environment where you can gain hands-on expertise in e-commerce store management and digital marketing, equipping you with the skills to independently drive sales growth.
Mandatory Qualifications:
- Comfortable with data-driven decision-making: You are at ease working with numbers and using data to inform your decisions.
- Analytical mindset: You can deconstruct sales and business processes to identify the root causes of challenges.
- Agile approach: You are capable of forming hypotheses and driving improvements through small-scale, iterative testing.
- Proactive and self-motivated: You take initiative rather than waiting for instructions.
- Continuous learner: You are comfortable navigating ambiguity and learning on the go to move projects forward.
- Curious observer: You enjoy observing real-world stores and services, and you have a habit of analyzing "why" they are successful.
Desired Qualifications:
- Knowledge or experience in e-commerce operations or digital marketing.
- Experience in data analysis (e.g., proficiency in Excel, SQL, BI tools, etc.).
- Strong interest in the retail and consumer electronics industry.
- Experience in business process improvement or operational efficiency.
- Experience in applying insights gained from physical stores or competitor services to your own initiatives.
