Job Description
This is a technology company that develops and builds innovative digital cockpit and electrification products at the leading edge of the mobility revolution, helping transform the software-defined vehicle of the future for many of the world's largest OEMs. The Program Manager is accountable for customer and management for the project. The role reports to the Chief Program Engineer or Customer lead.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead project activities to achieve the goals and objectives established during the initiation phase and any subsequent changes.
- Act as the main point of contact for the customer, with decision authority for the project.
- Create and execute project work plans (Configuration Management Plan) and revisions as appropriate to meet project phase deadlines and changing requirements.
- Manage resources in conjunction with horizontal managers, manufacturing and others.
- Help resolve day-to-day operational aspects of project scope, drawing on experience.
- Manage project risk through mitigation planning by raising RIOs within enterProj (Program Management tool) and ensuring timely closure of RIOs.
- Support the project team in monitoring and reporting timing, income, expense and resource management.
- Ensure less experienced team members use Project Management and VPDS methodology.
- Prepare for Senior Project Leader and Project Board project reviews and quality assurance procedures.
- Ensure all project documents are complete, current and stored appropriately in enterProj.
- Monitor project status (including supplier status) and review CM activities with the appropriate stakeholders.
- Chair the Change Control Board (CCB) and manage key activities related to changes and problems at project level.
Required Qualifications
- More than 3 years of project management or product development experience in the automotive industry.
- Team leadership/management experience, including setting cross-functional targets, aligning with team stakeholders and driving team delivery.
- Good skills in communication (written and oral), leadership, meeting facilitation, presentation, negotiation, problem solving and conflict management.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working at JOEMs or at tier 1s to JOEMs.
- Experience in electronic parts/system development, including software.
Language Required: Business-level Japanese (JLPT N2 and above) and Business-level English.
