Location: Adelaide office based & Carrapateena Mine Site, South Australia (60-minute flight from Adelaide / 30-minute flight from Port Augusta)
Roster: 5 days on; 2 days off in the Adelaide office with some trips to the field
Reporting to: Superintendent – Block Cave Planning

About the Role

Context: The Senior Engineer – Controls works within the Block Cave planning team in the Mine Technical and Technology (MTT) department, which is responsible for the orebody knowledge, mine design mine planning (from 3 months to Life-Of-Mine) and multi-disciplinary technical support. The team creates integrated deliverables for guiding the business case and business planning, as well as site Sub Level Cave operations & Block Cave preproduction execution. In addition, the team is responsible for site based operational geology and geotechnical services.
Purpose: The Senior Engineer – Controls is part of the team delivering the executional direction for the underground mines at Carrapateena. The role supports the delivery of the Life-of-Mine plan, through project controls coordination. This coordination will interface across the Mine Technical and Technology Team for areas such as the block cave risk register, budgeting, cost estimate updates and integrated team scheduling. In addition, this role will coordinate change management and play a lead role in governance and assurance aspects.

About The Position

The position supports the delivery of Life-Of-Mine plans each year, which includes:


• Being a key interface with internal teams; ore body knowledge, vent, services, technology, operational readiness – and support the implementation of direction and projects associated with these areas into the long-term plan.
• Being a custodian for mining estimation work process and the basis of estimate – people, equipment, consumables, costs – and support the interface with procurement, ops readiness, business analysis, etc.
• Being a custodian for change management and change control work process for MTT, including team processes, change register, stakeholder engagement, approvals and mine plan impact
• Being a custodian for risk management process for MTT, including team processes, risk register, stakeholder engagement, tracking and reporting
• Engaging and aligning with stakeholders (internal & external to Mine Technical & Technology), ensuring inputs are captured and integrated in line with the minewide priorities, and outputs are fit-for-purpose and meet requirements.
• Leading appropriate change control processes, managing change registers and risk registers, and engaging stakeholders for both inputs and communicating outputs.
• Being an active member of the caving community, including contributions to benchmarking and industry engagements to ensure the latest industry learnings are captured and incorporated where relevant
• Being a custodian for risk management process for MTT, including team processes, risk register, stakeholder engagement, tracking and reporting
• Engaging and aligning with stakeholders (internal & external to Mine Technical & Technology), ensuring inputs are captured and integrated in line with the minewide priorities, and outputs are fit-for-purpose and meet requirements.
• Leading appropriate change control processes, managing change registers and risk registers, and engaging stakeholders for both inputs and communicating outputs.
