Seller Digital Transformation & AI Enablement Lead, Japan & Korea Cross-Border Business
Role Summary
Japan and Korea are two of eBay’s most important cross-border seller markets. As seller needs become more sophisticated, future growth will depend not only on relationship management and business development, but also on how effectively sellers adopt digital tools, automation, data, and AI.
This role will lead the digital transformation and AI enablement agenda for sellers in Japan and Korea. The role is responsible for identifying seller pain points, shaping technology-enabled solutions, driving adoption of digital capabilities, and ensuring that local seller needs are reflected in global product and technology roadmaps.
The ideal candidate is a business-oriented technology leader who can connect seller growth, digital tools, AI adoption, operational improvement, and global product influence.
Key Responsibilities
1. Drive Seller Digital Transformation
- Define and lead the digital transformation agenda for Japan and Korea cross-border sellers.
- Identify opportunities to improve seller productivity, operational efficiency, listing quality, inventory management, shipping workflows, customer service readiness, and marketplace expansion through digital tools.
- Develop practical adoption plans that help sellers move from manual, fragmented workflows to more scalable, technology-enabled operating models.
- Prioritize initiatives based on business impact, seller readiness, scalability, and long-term growth potential.
2. Lead AI Enablement for Sellers and Internal Teams
- Drive the adoption of AI-enabled tools and workflows that improve seller productivity, content creation, listing optimization, operational efficiency, and decision-making.
- Identify use cases where AI can help sellers scale faster, reduce manual work, and improve quality.
- Partner with business, operations, customer support, and product teams to translate AI opportunities into practical pilots and rollout plans.
- Build internal understanding of AI capabilities, limitations, risks, and responsible usage.
3. Translate Seller Needs into Product and Technology Priorities
- Gather and synthesize feedback from sellers, account management teams, business development teams, operations, and customer support.
- Convert seller pain points into clear product requirements, business cases, and prioritization proposals.
- Represent Japan and Korea seller needs in discussions with global product, engineering, shipping, trust, and seller experience teams.
- Influence global roadmaps by articulating local market needs with data, seller insights, and commercial impact.
4. Drive Adoption of Cross-Border Selling Tools
- Lead adoption of key digital capabilities and cross-border selling tools that help sellers expand to more markets and operate more efficiently.
- Support sellers in using tools for listing creation, translation, inventory management, marketplace expansion, shipping, compliance, and performance improvement.
- Partner with seller-facing teams to create playbooks, training materials, webinars, pilot programs, and scalable enablement models.
- Ensure sellers understand not only how to use tools, but how these tools connect to growth.
5. Improve Internal Productivity and Operating Models
- Identify opportunities to improve internal workflows through automation, data integration, AI, reporting tools, and process redesign.
- Support account management and business teams with better tools, clearer insights, and more scalable ways of working.
- Create feedback loops between local business teams and global product / technology teams.
- Track progress, risks, adoption, and business impact across key digital transformation initiatives.
6. Cross-functional Leadership
- Work closely with seller-facing teams, business development, operations, customer support, communications, legal, policy, and Korea business teams.
- Align stakeholders around priorities, timelines, ownership, and expected outcomes.
- Manage dependencies across local and global teams.
- Communicate complex product and technology topics in a simple, business-relevant way.
7. Team Leadership
- Lead and develop the Product & Technology / Digital Transformation team across Japan and Korea.
- Set clear priorities, roles, and operating rhythm for the team.
- Build a culture of business ownership, technical curiosity, experimentation, and measurable impact.
- Coach team members to become strong connectors between seller needs, technology solutions, and business outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in product management, technology program management, digital transformation, business operations, e-commerce, marketplace, SaaS, or platform business.
- Strong understanding of how digital tools, automation, data, and AI can improve business outcomes.
- Proven ability to work across business, product, engineering, operations, and customer-facing teams.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to translate complex technology topics into clear business implications.
- Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, especially in a global matrix environment.
- Strong communication skills in English and Japanese. Korean language capability is a plus.
- Experience working with sellers, merchants, SMBs, enterprise customers, or platform partners is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in cross-border e-commerce, marketplace platforms, seller tools, logistics, or AI-enabled business transformation.
- Experience leading digital adoption or change management programs.
- Familiarity with APIs, system integrations, automation, data workflows, or AI-enabled productivity tools.
- Experience influencing global product or engineering roadmaps.
- Experience working across Japan and Korea markets.

The ideal candidate is a
business-oriented digital transformation leader.
This person does not need to be a pure engineer, but must be comfortable with technology, data, automation, and AI. They should be able to understand seller pain points, identify where technology can create leverage, and work with global product and engineering teams to turn local needs into scalable solutions.
They should be able to speak with sellers, support business teams, influence global stakeholders, and simplify complex technology topics into practical business actions.
This is a key leadership role to modernize how Japan and Korea sellers grow on eBay.
