The Role & Department
As a Senior Manager, Product Communications and Patient Advocacy, you will be part of the Japan Corporate Communications team and lead strategic therapeutic area communications and patient advocacy initiatives that support Genmab’s continued growth in Japan.
You will serve as a trusted communications advisor and strategic business partner to internal stakeholders, providing strategic counsel and partnering with business leaders to advance business priorities through effective, compliant, and patient-centric communications.
You will develop and execute integrated communication strategies that strengthen product awareness, corporate reputation, and stakeholder engagement across healthcare professionals, patients, patient advocacy organizations, media, and other key stakeholders. The role also contributes to broader corporate branding, digital communications, and social media initiatives to enhance Genmab’s visibility in Japan.
You will report to the Head of Corporate Communications Japan and work closely with cross-functional teams in Japan as well as Global Commercialization Communications and Global Communications & Corporate Affairs teams.
As Genmab continues to grow, the scope of this role may evolve to meet changing business priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic communication plans for product launches and therapeutic areas in Japan
- Build and maintain relationships with patient advocacy organizations and external stakeholders
- Support corporate reputation through media relations, disease awareness, digital communications, and stakeholder engagement
- Collaborate with cross-functional and global teams to ensure aligned and compliant communications
- Develop and review communication materials, including press releases, messaging documents, executive communications, and digital content
- Monitor the external environment to identify communication opportunities and potential issues
- Ensure all communication activities comply with applicable regulations and company policies
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Life Sciences, Pharmacy, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
- Significant experience in product communications, patient advocacy within the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
- Extensive oncology communications experience, including successful product launch communications in Japan
- Strong understanding of the Japanese healthcare environment and pharmaceutical compliance requirements
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Japanese and English
- Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional and multicultural environments
- Strong strategic thinking, stakeholder management, and project management skills
- Experience in digital communications and social media strategy is an advantage
