Job purpose:

Reporting to the Evidence Strategy & Operations Lead, this role operates across therapeutic areas to deliver payer‑focused evidence generation, drive HEOR activities for priority assets. The role has a strong HTA focus and will drive HTA submission projects, prioritising evidence packages and dossier development to meet local HTA and reimbursement requirements; coordinate evidence generation, modelling and stakeholder engagement; and provide HTA‑specific scientific and strategic input to secure favourable access outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Evidence synthesis & health economics

  • Lead health economics projects to generate high quality and timely data to support the access of prioritised brands to the Japan market, including leading and executing evidence synthesis activities: systematic literature reviews (SLRs), targeted literature reviews (TLRs) and meta-analyses to support HTA, economic models and payer evidence needs.
  • Responsible for the development and delivery of Japan health technology assessment (HTA) submissions including development and agreement of strategy, liaison with internal and external senior stakeholders and the reimbursement bodies.
  • Input into pricing decisions for brands to ensure that cost effectiveness is appropriately considered in decision making.
  • Collaborate with Asset Leads in Japan and Global Real-World Evidence & Health Outcomes Research (RWE-HO), local cross-functional teams, including Government Affairs & Market Access (GAMA), regulatory and development to ensure payer/ value evidence are developed with a full understanding of the requirements of Japan health system/ policy landscape.

Capability building & stakeholder engagement

  • Build relationships with HTA bodies, payer advisors, clinical experts, and academic institutions to ensure external relevance and scientific credibility.
  • Monitor healthcare policy, HTA trends, and competitive landscape to inform proactive evidence planning.
  • Drive discipline in performance reporting and ensure studies are delivered according to plan and within budget.
  • Champion the role and value of HEOR internally, increasing understanding across functions on how evidence supports access and adoption.

Desired qualifications & experience:

  • Advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Health Economics, Public Health, Pharmacy or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in RWE/ HEOR research, or market access in the pharmaceutical, consulting, or healthcare industry in Japan.
  • Deep understanding of Japan’s healthcare system, pricing rules, and HTA processes (e.g., C2H framework).
  • Demonstrated experience with health economic modelling adaptation, real-world evidence generation, and HTA.
  • Proven ability to translate stakeholder insights into strategic evidence generation plans.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills across matrix environments.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Japanese (JLPT1 level) and English (verbal and written).
  • Experience leading cross-functional initiatives or capability-building projects is preferred
