Operations Support Analyst and Japanese Linguist, Mid

The Opportunity:

Provide administrative support, Japanese cultural analysis, and Japanese-English interpretation and translation services. Provide administrative support, including bilateral coordination, scheduling, travel, access, security verification, and other logistical support requests. Organize and conduct preparatory sessions that includes a collection of related biographies, draft information papers and talking points, and assemble necessary background information. Conduct Japanese and American cultural analysis and provide guidance and advice to optimize bilateral understanding and communications in English and Japanese. Facilitate U.S.-Japanese bilateral military efforts at the tactical and operational levels of military operations, including the following: social events, community engagements events, and key leader’s engagements in a variety of civil and military environments and settings to include media and press engagements, table-top discussion and wargames, military planning, and execution of exercises and operations. Attend joint, bilateral, or multinational planning conferences, working groups, and site surveys to provide linguist support to client attendees on the conduct of maritime operations. Oversee events in austere environments, on ships, and in aircraft, including occasional evening and weekend work. Review, analyze, and translate letters, invitations, certificates, procedures, briefs, military planning documents, and a variety of other related documents as directed by the client.

You Have:

  • Experience with military operations and coordination with adjacent components and higher headquarters commands
  • Experience with the military in translation and interpretation support
  • Experience with using Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience with military organization and culture of joint U.S. Forces and partner allies in the U.S. Indo-Pacific Area of Operations
  • Knowledge of Japanese culture and military organization and understanding of how U.S. Forces integrate with Japan Self-Defense Forces
  • Knowledge of the U.S.–Japan Alliance
  • Ability to advise leadership on cultural considerations to achieve operational objectives
  • Ability to clearly communicate complex topics in English and Japanese to senior military and civilian leaders
  • Secret clearance
  • HS diploma or GED

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience in translation and interpretation support for the military preferred
  • Knowledge of military terms for all branches of service and military organization and culture of the U.S. military, Japanese Self-Defense Force, and Joint Forces in the Indo-Pacific region, in English and Japanese
  • Bachelor's degree in Japanese language or Japanese culture

Clearance:
Applicants selected will be subject to a security investigation and may need to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information; Secret clearance is required.

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $61,900.00 to $141,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
